DHR Accepting Threatened Sites Proposals Until May 15th

May 3 - May 15

DHR is now accepting proposals to the Threatened Sites Program. This program offers small grants to provide assistance for archaeological sites that are being endangered by erosion, pending development, or vandalism and collections endangered by neglect, unstable curation environment, or disposal. These grants do not address standing structures, only archaeological sites. All work associated with these grants must be completed within the state fiscal year in which they are awarded. All awardees must be registered with the state procurement system before a grant is awarded or must work for and bill through a state college or university or government agency. All work must be supervised by an archaeologist who meets the Secretary of the Interior Standards. The Threatened Sites application form can be found on the DHR website here, https://www.dhr.virginia.gov/archaeology/threatened-sites-program/.  Applications and supporting materials are due to Dr. Elizabeth Moore by May 15, 2022.
